Year 2000 Information and Readiness Disclosure Act (IRDA), Pub. L. No. 105–271 (Oct. 19, 1998) (full-text).
Overview[]
The Act played a key role in encouraging industry associations to undertake surveys of their membership and to share the information gathered through those surveys with the Council.
It provided legal protection for businesses' "good faith" information disclosures regarding Year 2000 readiness. It encouraged the free exchange and disclosure of information regarding Year 2000 issues and provided limited liability protection for sharing information about Y2K products, methods, and best practices.
