Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is a standard that defines the way in which Internet communications and other advanced services are provided on wireless mobile devices.

Overview[]

"[T]here is a movement towards use of Wireless Application Protocol ("WAP") billing or billing through the mobile Internet. In the WAP billing environment, consumers use their mobile devices to make web-based purchases, and can pay through a variety of web-based payment mechanisms."[1]
