Ultrawideband (UWB) is a technology for delivering high bandwidth using extremely low signal strength over short distances.
Overview[]
UWB was envisioned as the preferred method for personal area networking (PAN) by the IEEE 802.15 PAN group. Its speed was expected to be several times higher than anything else in 802.11, which would have made it the wireless standard for USB and Bluetooth. Unfortunately, it has never achieved its goal.
