Overview
The Department of Homeland Security Science & Technology Directorate (S&T) was established by the Homeland Security Act of 2002. The mission of S&T is to strengthen America's security and resiliency by providing knowledge products and innovative technology solutions for the Homeland Security Enterprise (HSE).
S&T advises the DHS Secretary on research and development issues; implements a national plan to identify and develop countermeasures to chemical, biological, and other emerging terrorist threats; and conducts basic and applied research, development, demonstration, testing, and evaluation activities that are relevant to any or all elements of DHS, through both intramural and extramural programs.
