Definition[]

In the software and videogame industries, a trial version refers to a version of the product that will be close to full-featured, but with certain aspects "disabled."

Overview[]

A trial version may also be "time-limited," which limits use to a short trial period. An internal clock begins to run on the date the product is downloaded or installed and the product will cease working at the end of the specified time period.
