Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986[]

A message is in temporary storage when

a message sits in an e-mail user's mailbox after transmission but before the user has retrieved the message from the mail server.[1]

General[]

Temporary storage is "[t]he section of computer storage in which data is stored temporarily while a program is running."[2]
