General[]

Telecommunications is

[the] [p]reparation, transmission, communication, or related processing of information (text, images, sounds, or other data) by electrical, electromagnetic, or similar means.[1]
[c]ommunication by wire, radio, optical or other electromagnetic systems.[2]

European Union[]

Telecommunications is

any transfer of signs, signals, writing images, sounds, data or intelligence of any nature transmitted in whole or in part by a wire, radio, electromagnetic, photoelectric or photo optical system.[3]

Telecommunications Act of 1996[]

Telecommunications is:

the transmission, between or among points specified by the user, of information of the user's choosing, without change in the form or content of the information as sent and received.[4]
any transmission, emission or reception of signs, signals, writings, images, and sounds or intelligence of any nature by wire, radio, optical, or other electromagnetic systems.[5]
