A songwriter is the author of all or part of a musical work, including a composer or lyricist.[1]

Overview[]

The Songwriters Guild of America (SGA) and Nashville Songwriters Association International (NSAI) are trade organizations that represent the general interests of songwriters. The Society of Composers and Lyricists (SCL), represents the interests of songwriters working specifically in the motion picture and television industries.
