Definitions[]

A security label is

[a] marking bound to a resource (which may be a data unit) that names or designates the security attributes of that resource.[1]
[a] marking of a document, which specifies the handling of the document according to the security policy in force.[2]

A security label is "[a] piece of information that represents the security level of an object."[3]
