Computing[]

The terms run time, run-time, runtime, or execution time refers to the period during which a computer program is actually executed ("run") in a computer, from beginning to termination.

Run time is

[t]he amount of time required to carry out a computational task. In practice, the actual time required for a task depends heavily on the design of a device and of its particular physical embodiment, so run time may be described in terms of the number of computational steps.[1]
