Overview[]

The Privacy Investigations Unit (PIU) of the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) for British Colunbia manages the investigation of all reported actual and potential breaches of privacy legislation, privacy policy or suspicious activity that may affect the confidentiality and integrity of personal information controlled or in the custodianship of government. This includes privacy complaints and security breaches involving personal information such as system compromises, and theft of personal information or government assets.

The PIU manages the planning, developing and implementing of the government’s privacy information security response framework for Investigations. The PIU also works in partnership with the Public Service Agency in the development and delivery of the Information Sharing and Privacy training courses.
