Finland's Personal Data Act (523/1999) was intended to implement, in the processing of personal data, the protection of private life and the other basic rights which safeguard the right to privacy, as well as to promote the development of and compliance with good processing practice.
Sweden[]
Sweden's Personal Data Act (1998:204) was enacted on April 29, 1998, and came into effect on October 24, 1998. It replaced the out-dated Swedish Data Act 1973. The Personal Data Act is based on the European Union's Directive 95/46/EC, which aims to prevent the violation of personal integrity in the processing of personal data.
The Data Inspection Board is the supervisory authority under the Act.
