The Australian Office of the Privacy Commissioner was the national privacy regulator. The Commissioner performed key functions under the Privacy Act 1988, such as providing information and advice about privacy and the law, handling complaints, conducting audits, and undertaking promotional and educational activities. On November 1, 2010 the Office of the Privacy Commissioner was integrated into the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC).
