The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) for the Province of British Columbia, providing executive leadership for the OCIO. The OCIO collaborates with ministries, broader public sector organizations, communities and private sector suppliers on cross-government initiatives to transform the way government delivers services to its citizens.
The OCIO is responsible for the legislation governing the protection of privacy and personal information, freedom of information requests, and records management.
The OCIO is mandated with governance for corporate IM/IT policy including: technology architecture and standards; identity information management; data access; records management; privacy; and information security.
