Overview[]
The National Committee on Vital and Health Statistics (NCVHS) is an advisory committee to the Secretary of Health and Human Services. It was established by the Public Health Service Act §306(k)[1] and its membership was expanded to include persons distinguished in "privacy and security of electronic information" by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996.
The Committee advises the HHS Secretary in the area of health data, statistics, and national health information policy and the Department's strategy to best address those issues.
