Moderate-resolution satellites provide imagery from 5-120 meters pixel resolution.

Overview[]

These satellites are critical for frequent global monitoring of land-surface changes. Imagery at moderate resolution is best suited for detecting the impacts of global climate variability and change, population growth and movement, and changes in land use practices.

Landsat 5 and 7 have resolution in the optical range of 30 meters. Landsat is the only moderate-resolution satellite that provides global cloud-free coverage of the entire Earth’s land surface on a seasonal basis.
