The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) acts as a catalyst for a high-performing economy to ensure New Zealand's lasting prosperity and well-being. It plays a central role in shaping and delivering a strong New Zealand economy.
It develops and delivers policy, services, advice and regulation to support business growth and the prosperity and well-being of New Zealanders.
MBIE integrates the functions of four former agencies – the Department of Building and Housing, the Ministry of Economic Development, the Department of Labour and the Ministry of Science + Innovation.
