Definitions[]

A logical record is

[a] record independent of its physical environment; portions of one logical record may be located in different physical records, or several logical records or parts of logical records may be located in one physical record.[1]
a collection of related data elements, referring to one person, place, thing, or event, that are treated as a unit and have either a fixed or variable length.[2]
