The Australian Privacy Commissioner and the Privacy Commissioner of Canada have released the final report on the Ashley Madison data breach. At the time of the breach, Ashley Madison had approximately 36 million user profiles. The data breach included people's account information, email addresses, security questions and in some cases billing and geolocation information.
The report outlined steps Ashley Madison must take, which are legally binding, these include:
- enhance privacy safeguards
- amend information retention practices
- improve information accuracy, and
- increase transparency.
