Overview[]

The Internet Society (ISOC) is an international organization founded in 1992, which is dedicated to the expansion, development and availability of the Internet. The ISOC organizes working groups and conferences, and coordinates some of the efforts of other Internet administrative bodies. Internet standards and protocols are developed primarily by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF), an open international body mostly comprised of volunteers.

The ISOC has over 150 organizational members, including companies and government agencies, and 6,000 individual members. It works with its members and Chapters around the world to promote the continued evolution and growth of the open Internet through dialogue among companies, governments, and other organizations around the world.
