Overview[]
The International Society of Automation (ISA), formerly known as the Instrumentation, Systems, and Automation Society, is a non-profit, technical society for engineers, technicians, business people, educators and students, who work, study or are interested in industrial automation and pursuits related to it, such as instrumentation.
A major ISA focus is the leadership and forum to establish international technical standards for the design and application of control systems. ISA has contributed to work with the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), as well as DHS efforts to reach out to various standards associations.
Cybersecurity[]
The ISA99 committee is developing and establishing standards, technical reports and related information that will define procedures for implementing electronically secure industrial automation and control systems, security practices, and assessing electronic security performance. This suite of standards, ISA/IEC 62443: Security for Industrial Automation and Control Systems is the result of a strong collaborative relationship between ISA99 and IEC TC65 WG10.
