General Accounting Office, International Affairs: Licensing Data for Exports to Non-Communist Countries (NSIAD-84-105; B-201919) (May 1, 1984) (full-text).
Overview[]
Pursuant to a congressional request, the GAO updated certain export licensing data contained in a previous GAO report (Export Control Regulation Could Be Reduced Without Affecting National Security).
The GAO sampled export license applications received by the Department of Commerce, Office of Export Administration (OEA). The GAO determined that the number of applications processed by OEA would be reduced by 26-38% if certain export licensing requirements were eliminated.
