Information Warfare Defense (IW-D) is

[t]he integration and coordination of policies and procedures, operations, intelligence, law enforcement, and technology to protect information and defend information systems. The objective of IW-D is to ensure access to timely, accurate, and relevant information when and where it is needed and to deny adversaries the opportunity to exploit friendly information and systems for their own purposes.[1]
