Identity assurance

[m]eans to ensure the integrity and authenticity of identity information.[1]
is the capability to affix, verify, and/or determine the identity of a person (living, deceased, unconscious, non-functioning, uncooperative, or unaware), an organization, or entity. It is used to protect or control access to property, people, or information or used in any situation in which the identity of an individual or a population of individuals must be known and tracked, such as non-combat relief operations, disbursement, or access to benefits.[2]
