HIT Standards Committee (HITSC) was created by the HITECH Act to make recommendations to the National Coordinator for Health IT on standards, implementation specifications, and certification criteria for the electronic exchange and use of health information.[1]
Section 3002 of the Public Health Service Act (PHSA), as amended by section 4003(e) of the 21st Century Cures Act, replaced the HITSC and HITPC with one committee, the Health Information Technology Advisory Committee (HIT Advisory Committee or HITAC)).
