Overview[]
This Handbook is the result of Government experience gained over the past several years with smart card programs that include many smart card implementations, pilots, and projects conducted throughout the Federal government. The Handbook includes significant input from industry and academic resources.
The purpose of this Handbook is to share lessons learned and to provide guidance to Federal agencies contemplating the development and deployment of smart card or integrated circuit card-based identity and credentialing systems.
