Hardware[]
A file server is a high-capacity disk storage device or a computer that each computer on a network can use or access and retrieve files that can be shared among attached computers.
IRC Network[]
IRC users can configure their computers to act as a file server (fserv) to make their collection of images, video clips, audio clips, and other types of files available for others to download via a DCC session. In channels where an fserv is operational, the fserv owner will post a message. The mesĀsage provides command line instructions and a description of the files that are available. A user must intentionally initiate a connection to an fserv in order to select a specific file to download.
