Federal Register

Overview

The Federal Register (FR or sometimes Fed. Reg.) is the official journal of the U.S. federal government that contains most routine publications and public notices of government agencies. It is a daily (except holidays) publication. The "Federal Register" is compiled by the Office of the Federal Register (within the National Archives and Records Administration) and is printed by the Government Printing Office.

There are no copyright restrictions on the "Federal Register" as it is a work of the U.S. government. It is, therefore, in the public domain.^[1]

Citations from the "Federal Register" are of the form:

[volume] FR [page number] ([date]), e.g., 65 FR 741 (2000-10-01).^[2]
