Overview[]

The Federal Data Procurement System (FPDS) is a central repository of statistical information on federal contracting. It collected data on all federal contract actions and calculated the governmentwide percentage of federal procurements awarded to small businesses based on procurement information received from the agencies.

It was initially implemented in 1978 and in 2003 GSA hired a vendor to modernize the system. It became the FPDS-NG.
