Federal Communications Commission, FCC Strengthens Consumer Protections Against Telemarketing Robocalls (In the Matter of Rules and Regulations Implementing the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991), CG Docket No. 02-278 (Feb. 15, 2012) (full-text).

Overview[]

In this Report and Order (Order), the FCC takes steps to protect consumers from unwanted telemarketing calls pursuant to the Telephone Consumer Protection Act of 1991 (TCPA). The protections adopted are intended to protect consumers from unwanted autodialed or prerecorded telemarketing calls, also known as "telemarketing robocalls," and maximize consistency with the Federal Trade Commission's (FTC) analogous Telemarketing Sales Rule (TSR), as contemplated by the Do-Not-Call Implementation Act of 2003 (DNCIA).
