Definition[]

An electric vehicle (EV) is

[a] vehicle that operates with electric power provided by batteries. EVs include both plug-in hybrid electric vehicles and battery electric vehicles but do not include hybrid electric vehicles, which are self-powered and never connected to the electric grid.[1]
