Overview[]

The Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) is a supplement to the Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) that sets forth Department of Defense (DOD) specific acquisition regulations.

Software acquisition[]

DFARS section 227.72xx, gives instructions to contracting officers about computer software, including how to use the various standard clauses in DFARS section 252.227-72xx. In particular DFARS section 227.7203-6 tells officers to (normally) use DFARS contracting clause 252.227-7014 "in solicitations and contracts where the successful offeror(s) will be required to deliver computer software or computer software documentation."[1]
