Debriefing is

[i]nterviewing, under other than hostile conditions, of an individual who has completed an intelligence assignment or who has knowledge — through observation, participation, or otherwise — of operational intelligence or counterintelligence significance.[1]
[t]he systematic questioning of individuals to procure information to answer specific collection requirements by direct and indirect questioning techniques.[2]
