Definition
Data processing (also called electronic data processing or EDP) is the recording, storage, and manipulating of data by means of electronic equipment.
Overview
Data processing applications include such tasks as telephone system control and satellite operation, office functions including word processing and financial calculations, and data reduction for large research projects, etc.
