The IT Law Wiki

Overview[]

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Science and Technology Directorate partnered with the National Science Foundation to create the cyber-Defense Technology Experimental Research (DETER) testbed. The DETER testbed is used by both DHS-funded researchers, the larger cybersecurity research community including government, industry, and academia and educational users to test and evaluate cybersecurity technologies.

The DETER testbed is used to test and evaluate cybersecurity technologies by over 200 organizations from more than 20 states and 17 countries, including major DHS-funded researchers, government, industry, academia and educational users. It provides a safe venue to explore cybersecurity vulnerabilities since it is isolated from the outside internet.
