Cryptosecurity (CRYPTOSEC) is

the component of communications security that results from the provision of technically sound cryptosystems and their proper use.[1]
[t]he IT security discipline that embodies the principles means, and methods for the transformation of data in order to hide their semantic content, prevent their unauthorized use, or prevent their undetected modification.[2]
