Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement (CASE) Act of 2020 (CASE Act)

Overview[]

In December 2020, Congress passed the Copyright Alternative in Small-Claims Enforcement Act of 2020 (CASE Act), which directed the Copyright Office to establish the Copyright Claims Board (CCB). The CCB will be a three-member tribunal within the Copyright Office that will provide an efficient and user-friendly option to resolve certain copyright disputes that involve less than $30,000 (called small claims). The Copyright Office is in the process of developing the CCB, which should be available to hear claims by December 27, 2021.
