Roger Tassé & Kathleen Lemieux, Consumer Protection Rights in Canada in the Context of Electronic Commerce: A Report to the Office of Consumer Affairs Industry Canada (July 31, 1998) (full-text).

The purpose of this document was to assist in the analysis and development of policies designed to ensure adequate protection to consumers when transacting on the Internet. The report was intended to provide a survey of the contract law principles that are called into play in online consumer transactions and offer options for addressing inadequacies and gaps that are identified.

This report attempts to address the question of whether current legislation is adequate to meet the basic needs of the online consumer across Canada and proposes options and recommendations to address the challenges faced by online consumers.
