Communications[]

A code is

[a] [s]ystem of communication in which arbitrary groups of letters, numbers, or symbols represent units of plain text of varying length.[1]

Data[]

Code is a

system of symbols used to represent information, which might originally have some other representation.[2]

Standards[]

A code is

a collection of mandatory standards, which has been codified by a governmental authority and thus become part of the law for the jurisdiction represented by that authority such as the Uniform Building Code and National Electrical Code.[3]
