Classified national security information (CNSI) (also known as classified information) is:

[i]nformation that has been determined, pursuant to Executive Order 12958, as amended, or any predecessor order, to require protection against unauthorized disclosure and is marked to indicate its classified status.[1]
[o]fficial information or material that requires protection in the interests of national security and that is classified for such purpose by appropriate classifying authority in accordance with the provisions of Executive Order (EO) 13526, "Classified National Security Information."[2]
