Classification guidance means "any instruction or source that prescribes the classification of specific information."[1]

Classification guidance is

[a] written record of detailed instructions as to whether specific information is classified, usually concerning a system, plan, project, or program. The guidance identifies information to be classified and specifies the level (and duration for National Security Information only) and category of classification assigned to such information.[2]
