Definition[]

Classification authority is

[t]he authority that is vested in an individual to determine that information or matter requires protection against unauthorized disclosure in the interest of national security.[1]
[t]he original classification authority or derivative classifier described in the classification block by the individual's name or position who classified document.[2]
