Overview[]

The NITRD Cyber Security and Information Assurance Interagency Working Group (CSIA IWG) was chartered in August 2005 to facilitate greater coordination of federal cybersecurity R&D. It succeeded the Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Interagency Working Group, which reported to the Subcommittee on Infrastructure.

The working group reports to NITRD and is responsible for facilitating interagency program planning, developing and periodically updating an interagency roadmap, developing recommendations for establishing federal policies and priorities, summarizing annual activities for the NITRD program’s supplement to the President's budget, and identifying potential opportunities for collaboration and coordination.

Members include NSF, DOD's research organizations, NSA, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and NIST. Other participants include the Central Intelligence Agency; the Environmental Protection Agency; the National Aeronautics and Space Administration; the National Institutes of Health; and the Departments of Homeland Security, Energy, Justice, State, Transportation, and the Treasury.
