The Board on Global Science and Technology (BGST) was established by the National Research Council in 2009 to oversee activities that assess the implications of global advances in emerging areas of science and technology.
BGST's goal is to establish a range of global convening activities that will help to (1) enhance transparency with regard to global scientific and technological advances in order to improve U.S. decision-making and public policy development, (2) foster international collaboration in issues that require global approaches, and (3) foster the development of global "norms" as applied to emerging technologies.
