A blackbox test (also called the black-box test and the zero-knowledge test) is

s one where the tester is given very little information. They are simulating a hacker who knows very little about a firm's environment and who essentially has to learn as they go. . . . The tester is essentially given a black box and has to figure out how it works (and therefore how to break it) on his or her own.[1]
