Definition[]

The Biometrics Application Programming Interface (BioAPI)

defines the application programming interface and service provider interface for a standard biometric technology interface. The BioAPI enables biometric devices to be easily installed, integrated or swapped within the overall system architecture.[1]

Overview[]

"By developing a standard biometric API, interoperability can be achieved among a wide range of applications and biometric technologies. BioAPI v1.1 became an ANSI standard, ANSI INCITS 358-2002, on February 13, 2002."[2]
