Overview[]

Bibliographic Retrieval Services (BRS) began as the Biomedical Communications Network (BCN) at the State University of New York (Albany). After state funding ended, BRS was formed as a not-for-profit concern. It was incorporated in May 1976 as a for-profit corporation. BRS initially focused specifically on the biomedical data bases, but later broadened its coverage by adding ones in science, business, and technology.
