Benchmark refers to:
- "[a] standard, or point of reference, against which things can be compared, assessed, measured or judged."[1]
- A test designed to evaluate the performance of a computer system, computer program or device. A benchmark test evaluates the performance of a computer or program relative to the applicable specifications.
- The current status of the functions to be outsourced in terms of assets used, actual costs, and service levels achieved. It is the starting point for a customer to define its needs in an outsourcing relationship.
