Archival quality is

the characteristic of film that has been prepared and processed in such a manner that if stored under the archival conditions is suitable for preservation of records having permanent value.[1]
[t]he ability of material, such as processed prints or film, to resist deterioration sufficiently to meet standards for permanent records.[2]
