Additive manufacturing, also known as "3D printing," is a fast-growing technology that is transforming production in a wide range of applications. The United States is a leader in additive manufacturing research and adoption, which could bring significant future benefits to U.S. companies and consumers. However, as discussed in this report, the technology carries unique risks related to information assurance and intellectual property protection that require attention.
